Day 1 – Ravenna
Meeting of the participants at the agreed place and departure. Arrival in Ravenna, lunch in a restaurant and visit of the city that in the past attracted artists of all kinds, who bequeathed important monuments to the city, eight of which have been declared World Heritage Sites by Unesco; the visit will end with Dante’s area and the city centre. At the end the group will settle in a hotel in the area. Dinner in restaurant and overnight stay.
Day 2 – Ferrara – Comacchio – Ferrara
Departure for Comacchio, famous for its valleys enclosed between the Po river, the Reno river and the Adriatic Sea, and populated by eels; the town retains many medieval testimonies, starting from the Canale Maggiore with the Ponte of San Pietro and the Ponte degli Sbirri (the cops bridge), then continuing with the Museo dei Marinati (Marinated Eel Museum), which is also a factory active for some months of the year, dedicated to the processing of eels and which occupies an important place in the history of Comacchio: the marinated eel is recognised as a Slow Food Presidium. The group will then be accompanied to Ferrara, a city that with its elegance and harmony makes the surrounding atmosphere magical; lunch with typical cuisine followed by a visit to the historic centre with the medieval Cathedral, the Este Castle, Palazzo Schifanoia and the Angels’ Crossroads (Quadrivio degli Angeli), the Renaissance area of the city. At the end of the day accommodation in hotel in Ferrara. Dinner in restaurant and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Ferrara
The group will get ready to embark on a motorboat at Gorino Ferrarese to make the descent of the Po di Goro with a fish-based lunch on board. Afterwards, visit of the Sacca di Goro (wide crescent-shaped cove), the Gorino valleys, the Island of Love (Isola dell’Amore) as well as other characteristic spots, which are considered ecosystems where numerous species of water birds find refuge. End of the services.
